WHAT TO EXPECT
This exciting new role sits in the Powertrain Build and Test Operations team within Engineering Operations (EO). Created to enable Land Rover's electrified future as well as the all-new electric Jaguar range.

To ensure we can develop world class propulsions systems, we need world class test and development capability. The specialist role looks to enable this seeking a person with extensive knowledge of different testing environments. Covering test cases, automation systems, measurement systems analysis and data management.


The role will require you to work cross functionally to enable the integration of a global test delivery platform, utilising common tool chains and maximising re-use.

Ensuring any custom toolchains are supported effectively and available for use in other parts of JLR.

You will also need to ensure the accuracy of our test beds enables JLR to position its propulsion systems as world-class.

With high quality measurement systems being an enabler to chasing world-class efficiency targets.


With complex systems, come complex issues, troubleshooting these and acting as a flying doctor is essential to ensure we use constructive, collaborative problem-solving tools to resolve issues on the test beds.

Ensuring prevent recurrent actions are in place and continuing to improve our knowledge of the entry conditions to each test.

Ensuring system entitlement to move into the next test system, creating a seamless test system to enable our agile system development.

This role will work across Electric machine, EDU, Inverter, Cell, Battery as well as PiL and ViL test beds covering;

  • Process development
  • Test Case Analysis
  • Measurement system analysis
  • Troubleshooting
  • Automation system development
  • Ownership of strategic roadmap

WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Strategy

  • Develop strategic intent roadmaps for test methodologies
  • Ensure alignment between EO10 and the global test automation platform. Supporting requirements capture and delivery of toolsets to enable the mainline integration plan, calibration and delivery plans and the vehicle programmes.
People + Leadership

  • Establish and deploy best technical practice, knowledge, coaching and mentoring, ensuring technical and programme issues are supported and reviewed.
  • Formal sign off for the acceptance of new test facilities, completion of work programmes or closure of 8Ds.
  • Leadership Works with suppliers and other functions on how to improve understanding and methodologies
Delivery

  • Act as the product owner for the test operations technical methods group.
  • Act as the liaison between technical services and test operations to ensure robust delivery plans are in place with established techniques to deliver the programme.
  • Ensure Test techniques, measurement uncertainty budgets and facilities are aligned to enable product delivery.
  • Supports DV review activity to ensure the right test is done in the right place at the right time, with prerequisites understood and documented.
  • Lead task force activities to solve complex engineering problems and act as a flying doctors act as escalation authority for complex debug activity or integration issues.

  • Technology Development of process and reports to ensure consistent and robust delivery of the test platforms.
  • Technology Looks to developing new technologies and test and measurement techniques to ensure world class performance from our Electrified portfolio.
Safety

  • Enable a Safety first culture, leading by example and ensuring the team are supported in enabling safe operations.
Integrated Management System

  • Support all activities that result in a positive outcome from any audit, e.g. IATF16949, OHSAS18001, ISO 1400
  • Leading and directing a multidisciplinary team allocating responsibilities to ensure maximum effectiveness of the team.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Essential:


  • Proven technical expertise and significant experience of test facility operations and system under test preparation.
  • Proven knowledge and experience with a wide range of instrumentation and test equipment.
  • Proven experience of leading and developing engineering teams and providing technical advice and guidance.
  • Experience in technical leadership in a measurement or test environment, inc. project planning and control.
  • Significant experience with data acquisition and control systems.
  • Significant experience of data analysis and reporting of test data.
  • Natural problemsolver with structured approach to problem solving in a technical environment.
