Description
Job description

Our HR team exists to make BSR the best place to work that it can possibly be.

For us that means ensuring everyone who works here has a great experience during their recruitment and induction process, knows that their wellbeing is a priority, understands how they can learn and develop, and that they are trusted to make decisions about how they do their best work.

As a team, we use data to help us make decisions about what we should be focusing on as a team, and where our impact will be greatest.

We're values-led, and although we're a small team, we have a big impact on the organisation.

We're proud to have already gained our Silver Investors in People accreditation, and we're looking to progress to the next level as part of our People and Culture strategy for 2023 onwards.

There's always more we want to do, and so we're looking for a HR Assistant to join us.

This might be your first role in HR, either because you're near the start of your career, or because you're changing careers.

You don't need previous experience in HR, and you don't need to have worked in the charity sector.

Continual professional development is vital for us as a team, and so we're happy to support you if you're interested in completing a professional HR qualification.

If you see people as the heart of an organisation, and HR as a career where you can make a difference to those people, then we might be the right place for you

What you'll be responsible for:

We're an agile team, which means we all work across all areas of HR. If we've got several new vacancies, that might mean we're all working on recruitment for a period.

At other times, we'll all come together to work on a project related to learning and development, or wellbeing, or equality, diversity and inclusion.

This means we all have more varied roles, so it's a great place to learn about different parts of HR and develop your knowledge and skills.

Some of the main responsibilities for this role will include:

  • Induction. Helping new starters to succeed quickly by supporting them through the induction process, and ensuring they feel welcomed and included from Day 1
-
Continuous Performance Management. Being a superuser on our system, and supporting the new starter performance management induction
-
Day to day staff queries. This could be about benefits, or how to use our policies, or accessing learning and development opportunities
-
Wellbeing. Assist the Head of HR & Ops with implementing our new wellbeing strategy
-
Learning and development. Supporting the Head of HR & Ops to source and create learning and development opportunities for the wider team
-
Internal communication. Helping to produce our monthly staff newsletter, RheumaMill
-
Improving internal processes. We'll be transitioning to a new HRIS system during 2023. You'll support the Head of HR & Ops to ensure all of our colleagues are confident using the new system
-
Equality, Diversity & Inclusion. You'll be part of our EDI working group, which focuses on actions we're taking as an organisation to be more inclusive.

To do well in this role you'll need to:

  • Have a desire to build a career in HR
  • Actively prioritise your personal learning and development
  • The ability to consider equality, diversity, and inclusion automatically in all aspects of your work
  • Able to build strong levels of trust and working relationships with colleagues across all teams, and at all levels of seniority, both in an inperson and a remote working context
  • A willingness to gain an indepth understanding of what we do at BSR, to enable all colleagues to do their best work
  • Able to deliver highquality, accurate work, paying attention to detail
