Mobile Catering Supervisor (School Cook)
Location:
LLG sites, Leigh, Lowton and Golborne Schools Partnership, Wigan Area.
**Hours: 27.5 per week. Mon
- Fri flexible**
Rate of pay: £10.64 per hour and mileage
PURPOSE OF ROLE:
To flexibly support any of our catering teams across your area in every aspect of running a school kitchen; including preparing, cooking and serving school meals (high quality food and drink) in an efficient and effective manner, minimising waste.
To build and maintain good relationships and clear communication with the customers and your colleagues, at all levels of our business.
To always operate in a safe manner, observing company health and safety policies and guidelines.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Catering and Standards
- Prepare, cook and serve food and drink in a hygienic and safe manner, following assigned processes and procedures at all times
- Monitoring the quality of the food and service provided, achieving good quality product and service on time and within budget
- Be punctual with your timekeeping; operating a quick and efficient catering service without compromising on quality of the service delivered
- Monitor and advise on stock usage; rotating stock, ensuring food stocks don't run out and ordering stock as required
- Ensure that catering preparation, service and storage areas are kept in a hygienic, clean, tidy and safe condition at all times
- Take the lead in running a kitchen as and when requested to do so by the business
- Unloading of deliveries from suppliers and storing items safely and in the correct locations
- Report/fix any problems or broken equipment as soon as possible, reporting any issues you can't fix to your line manager
- Ensure uniforms are worn at all times on site; displaying a professional image of our company
- Ensure that all tasks are undertaken and completed in accordance with the site contract
- Undertake training as necessary to maintain the requirements of the site contract
- Keep to budget
Leadership and Customer Service
- Induct, train and advise the team on how to prepare food and drink to the standards identified in the contract
- Build and maintain good relationships with colleagues, customers and contractors
- Be the point of contact for your team with any personnel queries, dealing with or referring to the correct person
- Be the point of contact for the site customer with any issues or queries, resolving where appropriate
- Have a clear understanding of customer service guidelines/principles
- Display a positive attitude to your work and be a communicative and proactive leader of the team
- Understand the customer's service requirements, participating in the development of service provision in conjunction with the Area and Regional Managers
General
- Travel to, and work from, any of the kitchens in your 'area' as support is requested and required. These requests may be made with very short notice, so flexibility is key
Health, Safety and Environment
- Act responsibly in relation to all matters which may affect the Health and Safety of yourselves and others whilst on Company premises, customers' premises and travelling between sites, and to adhere to safety regulations at all times
- Observe all safety procedures and instructions and assist in maintaining a safe workplace and reporting any accidents, hazards, near misses, damages or defects to tools and equipment to the appropriate person
- Wear appropriate protective equipment (PPE) and use any safety devices provided by the company at the relevant times
- Only use equipment that you've been trained to use

Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
Valid driving licence & your own vehicle (_ability to travel to a variety of sites, sometimes at short notice, is a requirement of this role_)
High volume/high standard cooking experience (2+ years)
Kitchen/catering experience (2+ years)
