Description

24 MONTH FIXED TERM CONTRACT / SECONDMENT

Hackney Council is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated communications professional for a key new role in its award-winning communications service.

Our borough's local economy and high streets have been hit hard, first by the coronavirus pandemic and now the cost crisis for businesses.

The Council is helping small and medium-sized businesses get back on their feet to help ensure the future of our town centres are shaped by the ambitions of local people.

The Communications and Regeneration teams are central to this work, ensuring residents and businesses have a meaningful say in inclusive regeneration and business projects - such as promoting our town centres, promoting social value commitments, such as the London Living Wage, or the Council procuring more of its services from local traders.

As a Business Communications and Events Officer, you'll lead Hackney Business Network, a one-stop resource to support businesses, and you'll lead our programme of events that facilitate business engagement with our Mayor and CEO.

This means you'll be organising events, digital communications and marketing campaigns for the events, associate campaigns and to promote Council services.

You'll represent the Council with business groups and be their voice within the organisation, ensuring that their needs and expectations are listened to.

You'll be a first-class communicator, at ease presenting to business groups, creating engaging content or providing strategic advice to politicians and senior officers.

And you'll come with proven experience of leading innovative and effective communications and stakeholder events, operating successfully in a large business or local government organisation.

You'll be used to juggling multiple projects and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve your communications objectives.

Experience of working in a political organisation is desirable, but not essential.

At Hackney, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is stimulating, fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high profile organisation.

If you share our values and are ready to be part of our exciting journey please

The recruitment process is anonymous. Therefore, we do not accept supporting statements or CVs.

Interview date:
week commencing 27 March 2023

We are also working towards our vision, which is to be a place for everyone; where residents and staff can be proud; a place that celebrates diversity and where everyone can feel valued, included and involved.

In order to achieve this, we look for people who are:
Proud; Ambitious; Pioneering; Open; Proactive and Inclusive.
