Job Introduction
We are looking for a
Deputy Overnights Editor to join us working across our
Live Network. In this role you will be leading our overnight network breaking news and content creation and editing team.

Working with all of Reach Plc's regional news titles and some of its national titles, to provide live and breaking news coverage, trending content and editing support, 24/7.


This is a senior position where you will be working in tandem with our Overnight Editor and directing other content editors, to deliver high-quality content across the network and provide support for the regional Live sites.

This includes managing content from creation through to social.

You'll also be monitoring social media feeds, traffic and travel feeds, tip-off feeds and more to ensure the largest stories are covered on our Live Network.


Key Responsibilities

What will the role involve?


You will oversee the overnight team, setting the overnight news agenda for Reach's network of Live sites, and liaising with the news desks.

Writing, editing and publishing content for our network of Live sites while monitoring social media feeds, traffic and travel feeds, tip-off feeds and more to ensure the largest stories are covered in the evening on our Live Network.


You will provide desk-based support to process content, add additional reporting and run live updates for our newsrooms throughout the night and early hours to maximise audience.

Writing copy and running live updates to SEO guidelines and industry-leading best practice while writing video-led stories and picture-led stories from the biggest stories across our Network.


Who are we looking for?
An experienced journalist with your
NCTJ or equivalent qualification and exceptional media law knowledge.

You will be a capable, assured and experienced digital media expert and will have worked at a national or major regional level before.

You will manage a talented, driven team with ease, and be able to support and direct in a pressured and frequently changing environment.


You have first rate communication skills, both written and verbal, a strong understanding of the unique nature of digital news along with a genuine passion for breaking stories and to present them in the best possible way across multiple platforms.
