The Maternity and Gynaecology department at NUH is in the midst of an exciting transformation programme. This includes an expansion in our medical workforce at all levels.
We are looking to appoint additional registrars in order to ensure robust middle grade cover on both our campuses 24/7.
Main duties of the jobObstetrics
- Induction and assessment of labour
- Interpretation of CTGs
- Performing caesarean sections
- Instrumental delivery
- Suturing of episiotomies etc
- Reviewing new admissions in hours and during on calls
- Day to day running of the inpatient ward including ward rounds and patient reviews reviewing woman in assessment unit
- Antenatal clinics

- Day to day running of the inpatient ward including ward rounds and reviewing women in assessment unit, performing or assisting in theatres.

Working for our organisation
Our Gynaecology service includes an accredited urogynaecology unit, reproductive medicine, benign and emergency gynaecology.
Our gynae-oncology service has just been recognised as a certified Advanced Ovarian Cancer Centre by the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology.
We deliver 8,500 babies per year across our two campuses.Our maternity service is going through a significant transformation which will impact on every aspect of our service, co-designed with our staff and the women and families we care for.
Our obstetric services include a labour suite on both campuses, linked to a level 3 Neonatal unit, a dedicated obstetric anaesthetic service and inpatient and outpatient obstetric services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The QMC Campus will continue to provide emergency gynaecology and an early pregnancy care and all of the fertility services.
Out-patient benign gynaecology and short stay surgery are provided in the main at the NUH Treatment Centre, based on QMC Campus.
In addition some outreach gynaecology is provided in the community and at Ilkeston and Heanor hospitals.The gynaecology-oncology service, recently recognised as a Certified Centre in Advanced Ovarian Cancer Surgery by ESGO (European Society of Gynaecological Oncology), is currently base at city Hospital campus.
Both sites have a dedicated hysteroscopy and colposcopy service.Both hospital sites have a labour suite and we deliver around 10,000 babies per year. There is a Neonatal unit on both campuses, dedicated obstetric anaesthetic services, and inpatient and outpatient obstetric services.

Qualifications:
Essential criteria
- GMC Full Registration
- MRCOG part 1 (ST35)/MRCOG (ST67).
- Distinction, prizes or honours during Postgraduate training.
Essential criteria
- At least 5 years (ST67) or 3 years (ST35) experience in O&G.
- ST2 or equivalent competencies (ST35)/ ST5 or equivalent competencies (ST67) in O&G.
- Minimum 12 months experience working in Obs and Gynae in the UK.
