HEIW Pharmacy Deanery are looking to recruit 3 full time Pharmacy Clinical Placement Facilitators to support the newly introduced Funded Undergraduate Clinical Placement Programme for Wales.

1)South-East Wales

2) South-West Wales

3)Mid and North Wales


The new programme, developed between Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) and the Schools of Pharmacy at Cardiff and Swansea Universities, will see every pharmacy undergraduate given additional days of supervised placements in hospitals, GP practices, and community pharmacies across their four-year undergraduate programme.


The programme will be using Entrustable Professional Activities in order for undergraduate students to get the necessary experience to meet the 'does' level on Miller's Triangle.


The post holder will play a key role in managing the allocated region of this all-Wales programme and will use their pharmaceutical expertise and experience of the delivering Pharmacy Learning outcomes to deliver a quality assured programme.


The role will require the post holder to build effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including Higher Education Institutions and host training organisations within Local Health Boards and the community and primary care sectors.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a team that is currently delivering a significant programme of change to Pharmacist education and training in Wales

Managing the allocated region of all Wales programme for the Funded Undergraduate Clinical Placement Programme.


Coordinate recruitment events with allocated region in order to continue to promote the benefits of studying and working in Wales.

Manage the regional quality management processes for the Funded Undergraduate Clinical Placement Programme.

To provide training and ongoing support to Placement Supervisors of the Funded Clinical Placements Programme.

Working with HEIs and their students to support the delivery of the EPAs and the programme.


Manage, co-ordinate and support colleagues, within their area of expertise (Acute Care / Primary Care / Community Pharmacy) and across NHS Wales, in developing the learning environment and ensuring education/training provision supports policy initiatives and are cognisant of existing educational framework.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
