An exciting opportunity is available for a Police Constable to join SEROCU's Investigation team. You will deliver the tactical response to serious and organised crime across the South East region.

A Police Constable in our team will be omni-competent, conducting a wide variety of tasks to support investigations, deliver disruptions and support successful prosecutions.

Part of your role will be to conduct surveillance in order to gather intelligence and evidence; targeting suspected criminals at all levels of criminality.

During this assessment, your potential to pass a National Surveillance course will be judged. This will involve exercises on multi-tasking, map reading, and observation skills. If you already hold a current Q1 Qualification, there is no requirement to undertake the pre-select.

If you pass the pre-select stage, or currently hold the Q1 Qualification, next steps will be to attend an interview.

If successful at the interview stage and you are not already qualified you will then be required to attend a range of training courses dependent on your skill set:

  • Driving courses (Standard & Advanced)
  • Q3 Foot Surveillance (2 weeks)
  • Q1 National Surveillance Course (5 weeks).
  • Operational Competence Period (612 months)

This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result, you will be required to travel for business purposes.

This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east.

You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home.

Officers who are not currently Q1 trained and go on to become accredited whilst on SEROCU will be expected to remain in role for two years.
