An established Accountancy Practice with offices in Darlington are looking for a Payroll Administrator to join their team.

A salary of up to £25,000 is on offer for the successful individual alongside other benefits including 22 days of holiday plus bank holidays and a day off for your birthday This company also has flexible hours, time in off in lieu, hybrid working (2 days a week from home) and further.


The Payroll Administrator will be joining and team of payroll professionals where you will be processing a variety of payrolls and offering full payroll services to circa 250+ Clients across the region.


As Payroll Administrator your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Process weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls in a timely and accurately manner
  • Undertake manual calculations of SSP, SMP, SPP and check against the payroll software and complete any forms for the DWP if appropriate
  • Check information provided by clients and if necessary, raise any queries with clients
  • Run various reports from the payroll system for managers to review and rerun if appropriate
  • Produce packs of reports and place in Virtual Cabinet ready for publishing
  • Keep the work schedule up to date
  • Once confirmation is received from the client, finalise the payroll and issue remaining reports and online payslips
  • Pass any banking onto managers for BACS submission
  • Upload pension details to the relevant pension provider to meet the appropriate deadlines
  • Manage the payroll data inbox daily including logging incoming payroll changes and liaising with clients to resolve queries and respond to requests
  • Produce year end reports and issue P60s
  • Ensure that all payroll activities meet legislative and statutory requirements
To be successful in this Payroll Administrator role, you will:

  • Have high-volume payroll experience gained in a payroll bureau or Accountancy Practice
  • Have working knowledge of payroll legislation
  • The ability to check work for accuracy and have good attention to detail
  • Excellent IT skills, including working knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel, as well as confident using various Accountancy software and systems
We are especially keen to speak with individuals who have experience in payroll and payroll processes.

Ideally, you will be a Payroll Administrator or Payroll Assistant looking for a new challenge or a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or Accounts Administrator where payroll has been part of your role and you are seeking to pursue this further.

You may also be a skilled Administrator or Admin Clerk, with payroll experience.


Based in Darlington, this role is commutable from areas in and around Darlington and surrounding areas including Newton Aycliffe, Barton, Middlesbrough and Stockton-on-Tees.

Free car parking is available on site and is easily located from town and via public transport.

£20,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
