The Role
Identifying and managing risks to consumers from firms who are trading in breach of consumer protection legislation, including the ATOL Regulations
Core accountabilities include:
- conducting reviews, inspections and audits as part of a programme of effective regulatory oversight of businesses who make available flight accommodation to consumers in the UK;
- presenting evidenced based recommendations to senior managers and lawyers;
- ensuring appropriate enforcement action is carried out, ranging from the provision of education/ training to being actively involved in the process for refusing or taking someone's licence away or the prosecution of a business for unlawful trading;
- co-operating with other areas of Consumers and Markets Group/ CAA, as well as external organisations and other regulators or enforcement bodies, to achieve optimum level of oversight and regulation.
If you have a compliance/ enforcement, internal audit/ audit background, have a high attention to detail and have a passion for protecting consumers, then this is a fantastic opportunity.
About You
- Experience in carrying out inspections/ audits, preferably in a regulatory enforcement or assessment context.
- Understanding of regulatory policy or legal frameworks, preferably in an aviation or consumer protection environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a proven track record of interpreting complex information and producing easily understandable communications.
- A methodical, analytical, and detailfocussed approach to the administration, analysis, and evidencing of a case.
- Effective relationship management and influencing capability with an open, diplomatic, and respectful approach to dealing with people.

The role offers variety as in addition to desk based reviews of tour operators' compliance, there will be visits to businesses to carry out reviews of their processes and procedures.

Additional Information
For many appointments within the CAA, these roles require access to operationally sensitive infrastructure and/or Nationally Protected information. For these roles the post holders must undergo National Security Vetting and achieve the appropriate level of clearance.
