We have an opportunity to hire an Engineering Department Manager to join and oversee our team within our Selsey Site.

Role purpose.
Provide impactful management of the Engineering department providing an effective service to our internal colleagues.

To support the management of a safe, profitable, and efficient food manufacturing plant, aligned to our internal customer objectives by providing an effective engineering/maintenance department.

Key responsibilities

The Engineering Departmental Manager is a hands-on role responsible for leading and directing the activity of the Engineering team to ensure the PPM schedule is delivered on time in full.

In the event of unplanned downtime or immediate performance issues, theEngineering Departmental Manager will work closely with the Operations team to reprioritise planned activity to ensure service levels and quality standards are maintained to our customers.

This role will work closely with all other functional teams e.g., Technical, Production, Hygiene, Logistics, H&S, Finance and Supply Chain
Clear accountability for delivery of all KPIs for your relevant department working with the Site Leadership team.
Ensure shift engineers meet the pre-agreed KPIs and GMP standards
Manage the shift within set engineering standards and KPI's
Complete Risk Assessments, inspections, investigations, and training where appropriate
Maintenance procedures written and delivered to engineers
Clear accountability for the performance of your shift each day. This includes KPIs that relate to engineering, operational, and financial performance
Your performance will be measured as part of a balanced scorecard with other non-financial KPIs daily.
You will be authorised to place purchase orders within budgetary limits to be agreed with your Line Manager

Plays an active role in the delivery of the continuous improvement programme for the site. Continuously identifying ways to reduce cost and improve standards. Ensuring full stakeholder engagement throughout.
Review the PPM schedule periodically against downtime performance to assess any changes required
Provide visible management to the shift engineering team
Develop members of the team in line with NWF values
Support and coach operators and managers to operate equipment in line with OEM recommendations.
Understand which issues can be dealt with by the team on site and at what point you need to escalate an issue to the Site Leadership team

Skills & Experience
Degree level qualification preferred, but no essential, Time served with proven engineering track record
Experience to manage teams within in a FMCG based manufacturing environment
Produce experience
Demonstrates good business acumen, able to analyse and interpret data and identify trends
Able to present data clearly and clearly communicate to others to act
Project and time management skills
Food safety level 2 or equivalent
