Birmingham City University is a diverse and exciting place to work, and we currently have an opportunity for a Senior Partnerships Officer (Partnerships and Mobility) and Senior Partnerships Officer - (Partnerships and TNE) to join our dynamic Partnerships and Mobility Team within the International Office.


The main responsibilities for this role are:

  • Contribute to the achievement of University international targets.
  • Review and monitor existing partnerships and ensure they continue to support the University's strategic objectives.
  • Grow and strengthen relationships with the full range of institutions including Transnational Partners to ensure sustainability and quality outcomes
  • Developing and delivering comprehensive partnership plans for all countries within the designated regions to meet partnerships targets within a specified budget.
  • Conduct market analysis and environmental scanning to identify potential partner institutions matching the profile of the University, supporting the due diligence and agreement process
  • Maintain effective customer relationship management for prospective and current international partners, prospective students, nominated agents and representatives and other stakeholders.
  • Work with colleagues across the University to ensure that all new partnership opportunities confirm to quality requirements and incountry education regulations.
  • Manage and coordinate inward and outward visits, including academic and senior management members of staff as well as representatives from government bodies, local ministries of education and key international stakeholders.
  • Ensure that records, databases and management information systems are up to date and maintained accurately.
  • Contribute to developing promotional materials relevant to market areas.

Requirements for the role:


  • Degree or equivalent.
  • Previous experience and knowledge of international partnerships within a higher education environment.
  • Previous experience of working within an international office at a University or similar educational institution is desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills with an articulate, confident and diplomatic approach.
  • Experience of negotiating international partnership arrangements.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities on own initiative.
  • Ability to drive forward new developments and update or implement new procedures.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and across all cultural boundaries.
  • Understanding of sensitivity to cultural issues relating to and international liaison work.
  • Ability to undertake potential travel and work independently whilst overseas.
  • Ability to work successfully in a team.
