Description

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics seeks to appoint a Departmental Coordinator, primarily focusing on supporting the research, outreach and engagement activities of the department, with some work also supporting the Departmental Officer, finance and workload.

The department has over 70 academic and research staff and over 100 research students.

Ranked 7th in the 2021 Research Excellence Framework and 11th in the 2023 Good University Guide, Lancaster is one of the UK's top departments for Mathematics and Statistics.


In this role, you will be a key member of Professional Services staff who is effective and contributes to the Department's strategic direction.

You will be a part of a growing team whose members are forward thinking and advocates of customer service.

This exciting opportunity would be suitable for someone with experience of working in a busy and thriving environment, preferably with experience in research support or event planning.


You should be numerate, have excellent administrative and IT skills, be able to juggle a busy workload, and have an enthusiasm for the role.

You will have the ability to plan and execute events on an international scale and to understand the complexities of research activities at department level.

Working with direction and using your initiative, you will manage projects and create databases to support the Department in reaching its ambitious targets.

This role is 0.8 FTE (29 hours) per week. This post may be carried out as a secondment; please consult with your existing line manager before applying.
