RCO theatres are currently looking to recruit an Assistant Director of Nursing for Theatres.

We are seeking someone clinically qualified with strong management skills and a desire to deliver high quality patient centered care.

In this position you will cover a variety of specialties including Urology Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Plastics and Orthopaedic Surgery.

We are currently expanding our theatre complex to nine theatres and two procedure rooms and we have recently increased our portfolio of specialities.

This is an exciting position for someone who would like to be part of a developing service


This role would suit a very experienced RGN or ODP who can demonstrate their ability to lead a team in a theatre environment.

You should have practical experience leading teams and be comfortable and confident running a theatre department.

Experience of change management and working at a strategic level.

The post holder will be directly involved in the NCA theatre excellence programme, and will be overseeing the implementation of the TAAS standards.


The post holder will also be expected to play a pro-active role in quality and service improvement working closely with the theatre team leaders and leads across the Division.


The post holder will have access to SCARF resources and regular health and well being meetings with their senior manager.

Comprising Rochdale Infirmary and the Integrated Neighbourhood Teams in Rochdale (consisting of professionals from health, social and voluntary sectors), they are leading the way in integrated care in Greater Manchester and helping keep people well in their own homes.


In recent years there has been a rapid increase in the Division of planned care on the Rochdale Site and has developed innovative pathways of providing high quality elective provision to the local region.

In the coming year this will see that expansion include a ninth theatre and development of a new day surgery unit with procedure rooms.


The post holder will provide managerial and professional leadership and be responsible and accountable for the delivery of high quality, patient centred nursing service that meets the needs of the patient.

The post holder will work closely with the Clinical Leads and Service Managers in the co-ordination and delivery of services in accordance with National and Trust Health Strategies.


Ensure a robust professional approach to service development and improvement and that any subsequent changes to structures, services and roles are underpinned by appropriate support and on-going development.


Together with the Divisional Director of Nursing and the Executive Director of Nursing, lead the strategic direction of the whole group and take a lead role in negotiating, identifying and implementing plans, which contain the required detail for services to be managed and delivered effectively.

Provide professional nursing advice and leadership for the development, implementation and monitoring of the Nursing and Quality Strategies that deliver a high quality, patient centred service.


Encourage and enable the advancement and development of the nursing service and practice through personal and professional development which is aligned to strategic direction of the learning and development team.
