Swansea Bay University Health Board has a rare and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the expanding and innovative Swansea Bay Speech and Language Therapy Community Adult Learning Disabilities Service.

The service works into the Swansea and Neath Community Learning Disabilities teams. Level C dysphagia competencies are desirable for this role.

You will be working in varied community settings and will provide speech and language therapy assessments and interventions to adults who have learning disabilities and to those that are transitioning to the service.

You will be working with 4 SLTs and 2 Communication Development Officers. You will have access to supervision and relevant CPD opportunities.

The post holder must have a Speech and Language Therapy degree qualification, post basic dysphagia competencies and be a member of RCSLT and be registered and licensed to practice with HCPC.

Assessment and management of communication difficulties, including those which occur with complex health needs, behaviours that challenge and dementia.

Assessment and management of dysphagia.

Creation of visual resources such as social stories, supported by Communication Development Officers

Supporting other SLTs to provide training for staff in Inclusive Communication and dysphagia.

Provision of placements for student SLTs

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.


You will be required to travel between sites in a timely manner, some of the locations are remote and public transport does not serve all areas.
