A day in the life of a Yardman-

  • Ensuring that all internal Health & Safety policies are always adhered to throughout
the yard and promote a positive Health & Safety culture.

  • Ensuring the general yard area is kept safe, clean, and tidy.
  • Responsibility for the Green Waste being removed at appropriate times.
  • Planting up of troughs and hanging baskets as and when required.
  • Ensuring spent hanging baskets are tipped, neatly stacked, and returned to Supplier.
  • Ensuring the General Waste Skip is used correctly and emptied when required.
  • Responsibility for the maintenance of the greenhouse areas including health & safety
adherence.

  • Complete ownership of stock control (both equipment and materials/products),
including goods in and out, stock rotation and storage.

  • Watering and general plant care for all interior and exterior planting.
  • During Christmas Period, checking off deliveries and preparing daily loads for
Technicians.

  • Ensuring adequate stock levels of Compost and other general products.
  • Use of Forklift Truck and Tractor in the yard area ensuring all preuse checks and
forms are completed.

  • Loading and offloading of vehicles and trailers.
  • Supervision of third parties when they are working on site.
  • Follow preventive maintenance programs, including schedules and procedures for
yard maintenance, safety and physical inspections of equipment to ensure

compliance

  • Reporting of any H&S concerns and Near Misses to Service Manager.
  • Working with Service Manager to complete weekly Yellow Rules.
  • Upholding safe working practices.
  • To hold the role of Fire Marshal and First Aider.
  • A good knowledge of horticulture and plant care
  • Great communication skills with team members and management
  • A flexible 'cando' attitude and selfmotivation
  • Suitable fitness for the physical nature of the work involved in this role
  • Forklift Truck Licence
Monday-Friday 5am-2pm


Job Type:
Temporary contract

Contract length: 0-6 months


Salary:
£11.53-£12.60 per hour

  • Laleham: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Licence/Certification:

  • Forklift Licence (preferred)
