Introduction:


Our client is looking for an experienced Structural Designer with experience working in Nuclear, Maritime or Heavy Industry to work on Dock design.


The role is responsible for the delivery of structural engineering work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule and cost.

This is a really exciting opportunity for an experienced Engineer who wants to work in a safety critical environment


Working Pattern:
Remote with fortnightly travel to Plymouth.


Key responsibilities:


  • Responsible for the technical aspects of the structural engineering packages from identification of the need, through to handover.
  • Undertake technical delivery of one or more design packages.
  • Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required and is produced to agreed standards, schedule and budget.
  • Plan for effective project implementation.
  • Ensuring effective Quality Management Arrangements, operate and deliver through compliance.
  • Ensure that the processes and activities being undertaken are appropriately documented.
  • Effective management and communication of the Risk Assessment.
  • Provide advice to the subcontracted design houses to enable them to develop the design.

Skills & experience:


  • Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartered status.
  • Knowledge of architectural design of industrial buildings, building services design and installation.
  • Demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills required in the technical design development throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice.
  • Sound project specification, planning, project management and budgeting experience.
  • Awareness of the design support to construction, operation, refit/repair of conventional and nuclear submarines and/or facilities.
  • Nuclear and/or marine system knowledge is desirable.
  • Design and substantiation of heavy civil engineering and building structures to relevant Nuclear standards.
