This is a full-time fixed term Intervention Fellow post for one year at Kettering General Hospital.

The appointee will join the eleven middle grades working in the department (1 Specialist Registrar and 10 Trust Grade Registrars) providing inpatient and outpatient Cardiology services, including participation in the Northamptonshire Regional 24/7 Primary PCI service.

The post-holder will be expected to contribute to clinical research projects and audit undertaken within the department.

Participation in 1 in 8 Cardiology middle grade oncall rota.


The appointee will also be encouraged to undertake research and audit, as well as attendance at regional and national educational meetings.

He/she will also actively participate in our busy educational programme of teaching under and postgraduates.


he successful appointee should have completed their training in general adult cardiology (at least 4 years) and selected interventional cardiology as their sub-specialty interest.

Competency in diagnostic coronary angiography as an independent operator (radial & femoral) is essential.

In addition, the applicant should have performed at least four hundred 1 st operator, and two hundred 2 nd operator coronary interventions prior to commencement.

The appointee should be within the final year of their Specialist Registrar training (ST7 level, or equivalent, essential) or be post CCT (desirable).

The fellowship may be undertaken by trainees who are already in a StR position (as part of 'out of programme' experience).
