Would you like to be involved in delivering and supporting ICT Solutions that make a difference to our users?


If so, the Informatics service is looking for a full time positive and enthusiastic Senior ICT Support Officer to join a dynamic team.

Working across BCU you will be responsible for the operational support across a range of ICT System Solutions providing the training and support of ICT skills, system solutions, coordination of training activities and involvement with implementations.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.


Your key responsibilities include:


  • Analyse, investigate and resolve user problems, some of which are complex, and where necessary discuss options for resolution with ICT colleagues/senior managers
  • Train users / support staff on software solutions (both classroom and desk side)
  • Maintain / manage all training activities (coordination, planning and strategy) within your portfolio
  • Working with the implementation team, providing communication of training information to Informatics staff and wider BCU staff as appropriate
  • Assisting the ICT Systems Support Management Team to ensure the systems within their remit are run efficiently and effectively and that appropriate disaster recovery plans are in place.
  • Contribute to the specification and delivery support of informatics projects for local and national ICT initiatives.
  • Provide onsite floor walking support to end users across BCU for any ICT related issues/training requirements.

Essential Criteria Includes:


  • Educated to Degree level / equivalent level of work experience and knowledge
  • Experience of working in a large and complex organisation
  • Experience in the support and training of software solutions
  • Participation in change management projects and process reengineering
  • Knowledge of Clinical, Management and Information processes
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the capabilities and limitations of IT
