Description

As the Information Coordinator for the Data Team in the Cardiology Department, you play a pivotal role in the collection, preparation, and uploading of data for national databases and NICOR audits.

With a focus on Data Quality Indicator scoring, collaborate with the Information Technology team for data development across the Directorate.

Work autonomously while actively involving and collaborating with in-house colleagues.

The main duties include Collection, preparation and upload of data to relevant national databases and audits.
Preparation for the annual NICOR audits with responsibility towards the scoring of the Data quality Indicator (DQI).

Provide support to all users of the relevant information and/or EPR systems to ensure that all staff use the systems fully and most effectively.

This will include the provision of advice and specialist training, the development of guidance and procedures.
Work with the Information technology team on the development of data within area(s) of responsibility across the Directorate.
Post holder will represent the Cardiology team at designated meetings where requested by the Clinical Data Manager.
The post holder will work principally unsupervised, relying upon close liaison with colleagues in house.

This will include investigation, analysis and resolution of data queries and problems.


To conduct regular database verification, validation and cleansing to ensure high quality data that is accurate, relevant and up to date.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring all patients undergoing defined procedures in their area of responsibility across the Directorate are included in the database for the National Audit

Regularly extract and analyse complex patient data, finding inconsistencies and anomalies. Comparing data from various sources to ensure quality consistency and accuracy.


To provide regular information reports and analysis to members of the divisional team on activity and data quality standards; including interpretation of the data and reports providing explanation and clarification as required.

Communicating to team on a monthly basis the completeness and accuracy of the information by producing reports reflecting the Units status


Due to the specialisation of the role, clinical and technical knowledge required, the post holder will liaise between many areas of the Directorate, developing the knowledge base, improving the current system and creating a culture of high data quality completion.

Work alongside the Clinicians to ensure the complex diagnosis, comorbidities and peri-procedural data is completed and audited.

Retrieve patient demographics, and discharge information from the patient's casenotes and EPR

Ensure all the requirements for an external visit from NICOR are adhered to


Co-ordination of the images for defined MDTs using the Image Exchange Portal, a secure system for transferring diagnostic imaging between trusts sites over the Internet.


Provide support to all users of the relevant information systems to ensure that all staff use the system fully and most effectively.

This will include the provision of advice and specialist training, the development of guidance and procedures, updating users of the relevant modules when changes are ongoing

Develop in-service educational materials.

Responsible for collection of Consent for all patients so that External Validation of Notes can take place

In the absence of the Clinical Data Manager the post holder will deputise where required
