Project Support Officer (Inside IR35)

Contract Term: 6 months (Possibility of extension)

Contracting Authority:
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office


Location:
Hybrid (1 day a week in Central London office)

The role of the Project Support Officer covers a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the project's objectives.

The Project Support Officer enables the smooth running of the project by supporting the project manager through the operation of project management processes, and the co-ordination of business management actions and activities on their behalf.

A PMO should act as an information hub for the programmes and projects it supports.

The role would be based in the Programme Management Office, where there are multiple projects being delivered in a complex environment to complete the programme objectives.


As a Project Support Officer, your main responsibilities would be:

  • Planning and scheduling
  • Implement and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling.


  • Monitoring and reporting

  • Establish and maintain programme controls, keeping the programme manager aware of the status. Prepare programme performance reports, presenting statistics and researching new information.


  • Admin

  • Ensure organisational tasks are carried out efficiently. Manage and monitor compliance with Departmental Security, Health & Safety, Equality & Diversity, Business Continuity and Business Planning.
  • Secretariat for the programme governance setting the agenda, writing the chair's brief, taking accurate minutes and circulating within 5 working days of the board for approval. Maintaining a governance actions tracker.


  • Resources

  • Manage workforce planning, providing information for effective decision making to the Programme Manager. Procurement of supplies and services related to programme support within Delegated Financial Authority limits.


  • Stakeholder

  • Manage professional relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, and act as lead point of contact for some external parties. Draft and signoff correspondence.


  • Financial control

  • Monitor programme spend and contribute to the compilation of budgets and the development of the business case.


  • Risks and Issues

  • Manage potential risk areas, working with risk managers and escalating as appropriate.

You'll have relevant experience in:


  • Good interpersonal traits, able to work with all levels within the programme team and multiple stakeholders with competing priorities.
  • Knowledge and experience of using project management tools, methodology and best practice.

It would be good for you to have:

  • Previous public sector experience.
  • A relevant project management qualification, such as Prince2 or APM qualified.
  • Strong secretarial experience
  • Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not Overseas._

Full-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 6 months


Salary:
Up to £350.00 per day

  • No weekends
