An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dedicated multi-tasked patient access officer to join our Patient Scheduling Team based at Southend Hospital, Southend.


You will provide a robust admin support to the Patient Scheduling Team that cover, General Surgery, Upper GI, Lower GI, Breast, ENT, MaxFax and Urology.

The post holder must have the ability to be flexible and adaptable for the changing needs of the service.

Previous experience of working in a fast paced 'In patient/Patient access' waiting list environment would be advantageous. However, full training will be provided.

Excellent organisational skills, a confident telephone manner, good IT skills, and understanding of Service Change/development with previous experience of working in the NHS or within healthcare.

To provide a comprehensive professional and efficient patient monitoring and waiting list service within prescribed timescales


To monitor patients admitted pathway from referral to treatment for all specialties in accordance with the Trust's Patient Access Policy and the NHS Constitution.

These include RTT 18 weeks target and 31 / 62 day cancer targets.

To ensure efficient use of theatres

Ensure all patients details are entered and updated accurately on to the Medway system and Sapphire

Responsible for effective communication with Consultants' and clinical teams, patients, relatives, General Practitioners
