Green Economy within the Growth Company delivers a range of services to businesses with green tech products or services or those on their journey to net zero to achieve their growth potential.

To fulfil our vision to support businesses to access the expertise of local suppliers to accelerate the transition to a net zero economy, we are looking for a low carbon sector business advisor, who has experience in the Green Technology and Services Sector and will deliver high quality business growth advice to a portfolio of ambitious business owners and senior managers of companies looking to achieve growth.

The role will assess the growth potential of eligible businesses, diagnose any barriers to innovation or advancement which may be holding back growth and agree suitable action plans to address these and release growth opportunities contributing to Greater Manchester's net zero ambitions by supporting the transition to a net zero economy.

Our expert team is made up of chartered environmentalists and specialist consultants with over 40 years combined experience supporting green technologies and services businesses.


Our vision is for a society where businesses operate at net zero, powered by local suppliers of green technologies and services, and the successful applicant will play a key role in delivering this ambition.


If you have experience working within a green tech business or a passion for supporting the growth of the green economy, have business skills such as business planning and strategies as well as experiences in delivering training and workshops we'd love to hear from you.


Key Responsibilities:


The Business Advisor's (Dim 2) responsibility is to ensure that Green Economy's ambition is delivered to produce the maximum impact in terms of assisting in the growth of the sector by delivery high quality support to green tech businesses and support them reach their full growth potential to assist in transitioning to a low carbon economy and contributing to the UKs legally bidding net zero targets.


  • Assessing the growth potential and business needs using appropriate tools, processes and systems where required
  • Deliver high quality business growth advice to a portfolio of ambitious business owners and senior managers of companies looking to achieve growth
  • Identifying and recording impact in terms of assisting the client company to reach their full growth potential.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships and key client contacts
  • Have detailed discussions with client around complex business issues to understand their business challenges, making sound recommendations for appropriate actions that will lead to growth and managing the project/intervention to a successful conclusion
  • Deliver bespoke growth support directly to enable them to fully meet their growth potential which typically has needed a more complex intervention; this will also include a multidisciplinary approach to support provision
  • Keep up to date with latest and upcoming market changes to ensure best advice and up to date market intelligence is provided
  • Support the delivery of onetomany support packages in the form of masterclasses, peer networks and growth sprints

Skills Required:


  • Team player, but also a selfstarter. With a proven track record in working effectively in a professional team/s
  • Have and maintain uptodate knowledge of the green tech and services sector and its markets as well as a practical understanding of the drivers and barriers to growth in the sector, along with mitigating actions and emerging opportunities
  • Critical thinker and problemsolving skills
  • Ability to identify opportunities and to be innovative
  • Ability to develop ideas and the service with the best interest of the client at centre
