Job description:


Person specification:


Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating and developing the Library Assistants, providing effective leadership and performance management to ensure the provision of services required are consistently to a high standard. Monitoring performance against Service Standards and take appropriate action where team or individual performance deviates from requirements.
  • Catalogue and index incoming books and material using Dewey Decimal and inhouse classifications
  • Actively developing and promoting the Resource Discovery Service improving its usability and relevance to users.

To be successful in this role you'll need:

  • A Degree or equivalent Level 5 qualification in Librarianship, Information Management or Information Sciences; or currently studying a CILIP-accredited course.
  • Practical experience of working in a library or information environment with working knowledge and understanding of library management systems, cataloguing, classification, abstraction and indexing
  • Experience of developing strong working relationships with internal and external customers, establishing and maintaining positive working relationships and removing unnecessary barriers to service delivery
  • To be competent in database, internet and traditional paperbased information retrieval, including indepth understanding of using Boolean operators
