LSBU is committed to enhancing the experience of our students, enabling their success and providing the highest possible levels of support.

One of the key teams offering support to students is the Student Advice team and we are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our existing team.


Exciting work you will do


As part of the Student Advice Team, you will be providing advice and support to students with money and welfare issues.

Areas of advice include Student Finance entitlement, student budget management, offering financial assistance through LSBU discretionary funding or external funding organisations (including charities), helping to resolve personal issues and offering general academic advice.


This role is a new one that will be looking to co-create and develop our small groups offer for students by building relationships with our independent students (Care Leavers and estranged) as well as other underrepresented student groups.

Alongside side this work, the role will the development of resources for the seasonal events and workshops work of the wider Student Advice Team.

The skills and experience you will need to be successful


You will be an enthusiastic and committed professional who has a good grasp of the potential needs and barriers to learning for students form underrepresented student groups.


You will be comfortable delivering workshops and supportive sessions on a range of practical matters for students, being sensitive to individual needs.

You must be highly organised, IT literate and able to work both on your own initiative and as part of a team to develop the Student Advice offer for LSBU students.


Details about the role
17.5 hours permanent, working pattern to be agreed.


Please note that the University is operating a hybrid working model which means a mix of working on site and from home, confirmation of days worked on campus are arranged with the line manager.
