Supply Chain Materials Planning Apprenticeship

Job Purpose
Reporting to the Supply Planning Manager, you will be responsible for the materials planning process in British Sugar.

You will monitor production requirements & stocks, create purchase orders, and work with colleagues in operations, planning and procurement to optimise the process.

You will also support the planning team with contributions to the wider Business Planning process as required which will provide you with the opportunity to have exposure to wider British Sugar Supply Chain.


Working from our Head Office in Peterborough, 5-days per week, Monday-Friday and attending college or university at set interval you will follow the Level 6 Supply Chain Leadership pathway.


You will spend time over the 48 month scheme attending a college / university to gain a qualification and underpinning knowledge as well as spending time on the job learning the key skills and competencies required.


Your core accountabilities

  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders (planning, operations & procurement) and external suppliers
  • Maintain data in support of the Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) process (minimum order quantities, lead times, stocks & prices)
  • Ensure continuous availability of packaging to all sites, while staying within the constraints of storage
  • Continuous improvement of the MRP process
  • Creating and administration of purchase orders, including resolution of accounting issues
  • Be a positive member of the Business Planning team supporting colleagues with the wider planning process as required.
  • Use and advocate of a systemised process approach. Process expert for MRP within systems
  • Highlight risks and opportunities to the Business Planning team.

What will you need?

  • Be aged 18 years or over as at 1st of September 202
  • Be living and eligible to work in the UK.
  • Have at least 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grade 4/C which must include Maths, English and a Science.
