activity', the role is pivotal to optimizing the value of our decommissioning activities to enhance the Shell UK cash flow position given our relatively large abandonment expenditure over the coming period whilst ensuring we deliver fully on our retirement obligations.


Opportunity to influence and drive opportunity maturation and risk mitigation through next 5-10 years alongside our partners to establish credible top quartile decommissioning performances across multiple assets in the medium and long term.


Key role in support of our Decommissioning & Restoration portfolio on behalf of the UK business and will play a key role in the relationships for Shell's network of internal stakeholders (Assets, Wells and Projects) and external stakeholder.

Co-ordination support for quarterly DRST (Decommissioning & Restoration Strategy Team) meetings for the UK.

Continued responsibility for the delivery of portfolio Decommissioning Programmes and subsequent planning to ensure compliance with the formal Conditions. Pro-active management of Progress and Close-out Reports.


Support for stewardship of the UK Decommissioning Advocacy Plan and relationships with UK Regulatory Authorities (NSTA, OPRED and SEPA) within the Decommissioning domain.

Significant level of work, including deputising at key forums (with Shell's deeper Decom experience to date). In particular, the North Sea Transition Authority (NSTA) relationship requires nurturing in terms of planning and compliance.

Support to the Decommissioning & Restoration Centre and wider decommissioning businesses, in sharing UK learnings around decommissioning strategies.


What's the role?


Integration of the non-technical elements associated with Shell's decommissioning interests across North, Central North Sea, West of Shetland and Southern North Sea.

The role will ensure decommissioning activities of a multi-year program are done in a safe, efficient and responsible manner, whilst maintaining and building Shell's reputation in this important and evolving area of our industry.


Regulatory focal point and responsibility for Decommissioning Programmes for on-going Decommissioning projects across Curlew, Goldeneye, Kingfisher, Scoter & Merganser, Atlantic & Cromarty, Southern North Sea (Leman F & G, Shamrock, Caravel) and Subsea Infrastructure.

Ensuring compliance with noted conditions/obligations. Work with Regulators to achieve satisfactory DP Progress and subsequent Close-out Reports.


Responsibility of the Asset DR Plans and Storyboards for the respective UK fields, ensuring continuity with the UK Business Plan and Strategic Asset Management Plans (SAMPs).

Key integrator role for the deliverable of credible EOFL Plans for Nelson, Gannet and Shearwater.

Support to the DRC (Decommissioning & Restoration Centre) and associated global decommissioning projects.


What we need from you

  • Level of effort with OPRED and NSTA needs repeated delicate handling.
  • Decommissioning experience is essential, with a track record of and good understanding of Projects and in particular the generation and management of Comparative Assessments and decommissioning Programmes through consultation, approval and subsequent closeout Reporting.
  • Continuous improvement mindset and track record doing things differently (simplified, efficient worked practices) and learning from others.
  • Track record and willingness to lead, integrate and problem solve across the breadth of technical & non
- technical functions to steward and mature business opportunities through the funnel over a multi-year time horizon.

  • Leader of multi discipline natural teams. Ability to work with mínimal managerial steer across a complex technical & stakeholder portfolio, with demonstrable stakeholder management skills both internally and externally.
  • Strong and articulate communicator: Able to compose and deliver integrated strategic arguments in Project and Regulatory settings to promote innovative solutions.
