Do you have an eye for detail, a hunch when something isn't right, and are you always looking to improve and innovate?

We are looking to invite someone with a multi-skilled approach who is hungry to learn, dynamic and disciplined to join our maintenance team at Chepstow Community Hospital.

We will equip you with the tools you need to effectively maintain a small commercialbuilding such as ours.
An apprenticeship in Facilities Management or Building Maintenance is preferred and will provide an insight into what is required.

Working under the supervision of our Site Engineer, we will support you in understanding building fabric and statutory planned and reactive maintenance within Healthcare standards whilst delivering an outstanding service to our users.

You'll need to be over 18 (as some lone working is involved) and holding a driving licence woud be an advantage


We need you to:


  • Demonstrate a responsive "cando" attitude to the client, and end users.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring Helpdesk tasks are closed out on time.
  • Ensure that all OCS, Client and ad hoc Contractors are aware of the site procedures and comply with their H&S responsibilities, including the provision of risk assessments and safe working method statements before work commences.
  • Set a good example for other staff members, contractors and visitors
  • Motivate ad hoc contractors to provide a quality, customer friendly service at all times, in line with the partnering ethos/culture.
  • Undertake any reasonable request as directed by the Senior OCS management team.
  • Be able to comprehend and adhere to health and safety regulations and standards.
  • Be able to anticipate problems and quickly find solutions to them.
  • Quickly adapt to changes and learn new skills and techniques.
  • Provide prompt response to inquiries whenever there is a breakdown and try to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
  • Ensure that equipment is in good working order to prevent disruption of activities.
  • Ensure that all electrical gadgets and instruments are switched off after close of work daily.
  • Learn new skills and attend training programs in other to increase knowledge of trends and best practices in the industry
  • Ensure safety and safe systems of work are maintained at all times, during both maintenance or general operations
  • Become familiar with the critical spares list and ensure it is kept uptodate and that all critical spares are always available and ready for deployment.

You will also need:


  • To be working towards a qualification in building maintenance, building engineering or facilities management.
  • Excellent personnel and teamplayer skills. High visibility with integrity and strong ethical values.
  • Focused and performance driven.
  • An autonomous selfstarter; selfmotivated and well disciplined.
  • An analytical approach to problem solving and decision making.
  • Customer focused with the ability to develop relationships quickly and good at networking.
  • Demonstrates a proactive response when dealing with all customers.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage workload in a front line, sometimes reactive environment.
  • Willingness to develop long term relationships with our clients and other stakeholders.
  • Desire for personal development
