Are you looking for a supportive role in which you will be assisting students to reach their full potential? At Randstad we are looking for specialist mentors to work with students in the Dundee area with the aim of delivering high quality support to students throughout their academic career.


You will have a supportive and trustworthy relationship with your students helping them in areas such as managing anxiety and stress related issues as well helping students increase their problem solving and organisational skills.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a university setting and increase your skills in providing one-to-one support to students.

Responsibilities:


  • To support students to manage the barriers to learning that arise due to a mental health condition, specific learning difficulties, autistic spectrum conditions, and other emerging mental health issues.
  • To consider the student's needs and plan a strategy of support with the student in order to create an appropriate balance for the student for study related tasks and other life duties.
  • To work at a high level of competence with students, who may have complex needs, enabling them to engage meaningfully with the institution and their studies
  • To assist the student to develop strategies in timemanagement, planning, prioritising workload, managing change, managing anxiety; develop communication and social interaction. To assist the student to deal effectively with personal commitments which impact upon study and to maintain the necessary focus on academic progress.
  • To help the student to cope with the stresses of transition to a new environment (especially first year students)

Requirements:


  • A robust background in onetoone mentoring support, coaching, or supporting students at a higher education level.
  • Relevant degree or qualification in mental health, Autistic spectrum conditions, or Specific Learning Difficulties
