Description
Job IntroductionSurrey County Council is committed to the development of its workforce and as such this role is only available to applicants who already work for Surrey County Council. We thank you for your interest in Surrey County Council and would encourage you to review our current vacancies which are available to all.
The starting salary for this position is £32,820 per annum based on a 36-hour working week, plus £867 per annum Fringe Allowance.
We are excited to tell you about a great opportunity on offer to connect the Extended Hope Service and Surrey County Council's Children and Young People's (CYP) Haven Teams to provide emotional well-being and mental health support to young people within the Extended Hope service.
These are newly created positions designed to improve young people's access to the support, services and opportunities available within the community that can stabilise and improve their mental health and well-being.
Working under the support and direction of the CYP Haven Senior Youth Workers and Clinicians in the HOPE Service, you will support and positively develop the emotional well-being and mental health of young people within the Extended HOPE Service.
About Us
The Extended Hope offers a house where young people can go to be assessed and supported in a safe environment for a maximum of seven days. As well as providing respite during a crisis, Extended Hope and its staff also support the family to create a plan of care, hopefully preventing the situation escalating and a hospital referral.
The Haven is a preventative service for young people in immediate need of support in relation to their emotional or mental health. This sits within the Youth Offer Team and supports young people struggling with their mental health; aiming to prevent them from attending higher tier services or A&E. It is Open Access in its nature so that any young people can access the service it provides.
The service will contribute to Surrey County Council's Early Help offer through the provision of high-quality youth work, primarily focusing on young people's emotional and mental health by including a range of interventions as appropriate.
Here are the qualities, skills & experiences we are looking for in our Youth Workers:
- National professional JNC Qualification or allied professional qualification or experience
- Evidence of continuous training and personal development including emotional and mental health training or willingness to undertake JNC recognised training
- Substantial practical experience of working with vulnerable young people
- Awareness of the issues that affect the lives of emotionally vulnerable young people
- Ability to proactively engage young people
At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
