Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week


Job Duties

  • Provide a comprehensive, high quality and proactive operational employee relations advisory and support service to managers and staff within the Trust. Particularly on matters relating to managing absence and performance and conduct, and contributing positivelyto the Trust's retention agenda.
  • Provide first point of contact workforce and employee relations advice and support to assigned divisions to facilitate the early resolution of employee relations issues, ensuring that the risk associated with such cases are effectively managed, seekingadvice from the Workforce and Employee Relations Manager where required.
  • Provide expert advice to Investigating Officers and participating as a panel member at formal hearings ensuring that panel chairs understand their role and responsibilities and that Trust procedures are followed.
  • Take a lead role in implementing the workforce aspects of change programmes, such as consultations, redeployment, redundancy and TUPE transfers arising from service redesign and changes in line with the Trust's Operational Plan.
  • Ensure that the Trust meets its statutory and legal obligations with regard to employment legislation requirements.
  • Accurately record all ER related case work on the Trust's recording system (ESR) and produce accurate reports as required.
  • Work proactively to upskill managers in relation to any operational workforce issues.
  • To establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff side representatives to facilitate positive partnership working
  • Participate in all aspects of the job matching / evaluation process including advising on grading and banding issues and participating in evaluation panels with staff side representatives to ensure an efficient and consistent job evaluation process is followedin line with Agenda for Change.
  • To ensure the provision of the highest quality customer service to Trust managers and employees.
  • To undertake ad hoc projects as advised by Workforce and Employee Relations Manager.

Educations, Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience of advising operational managers across a wide range of specialised HR and employee relations matters within a complex, multisite, unionised environment.
  • Experience of managing and leading complex organisational change programmes.
  • Proven track record of success at addressing employment issues in order to ensure the effective resolution of concerns
  • Experience of working collaboratively in partnership with staff side, managers and staff
  • Experience of managing TUPE transfers.
  • Experience of advising on employee relations panels.
  • Experience of interpreting data in order to formulate effective HR strategies, including audits and surveys.
  • Ability to professionally and confidently present highly complex and sensitive data and information.
  • Ability to form effective business relationships in order to drive forward the contribution of HR services.
  • Ability to work to tight and challenging deadlines, managing complex and multiple pieces of work
  • Ability to commute across sites within the Trusts boundaries utilising access to own transport
  • Frequent exposure to distressing/emotional circumstances when dealing with staff welfare issues, redeployment/redundancy, long term sickness, grievances, disciplines
