Seven Resourcing are looking for a temporary Housing Support Officer to work in Truro, Cornwall.

This position is initially for a period of 3 months and is paying £14.35 PAYE or £17.23 Umbrella per hour.

The hiring manager is willing to consider someone either part-time or full-time hours (minimum 20 hours per week).


The role:


The Support and Assessment Officer will offer support to people accessing the Somewhere Safe to Stay Hub (SStS) as they start the journey away from rough sleeping.

The position is based in a centrally located newly built 9 bed Support and Assessment Hub, in Truro.

The SStS Hub offers a room for an average 72-hour period and is offered to anyone who is identified, as non-priority need, as being at imminent risk (within 24 hours of) or already rough sleeping.


Key Responsibilities:


  • To contribute to the achievement of the Council's overall vision to end homelessness and rough sleeping in Cornwall and to prevent people returning to the streets.
  • Engage with service users who present at a SStS Assessment Hub via referrals from the Housing Options Rough Sleeper Access Team, Street Outreach Teams, Prison and hospital discharges, Nos Da Kernow, selfreferrals and other rough sleeper initiative projects.
  • Support service users in the provision ensuring that their stay is no longer than the prescribed 72hrs (some flexibility dependant on individual needs/complexity).
  • Complete a full and dynamic risk assessment, and personalised housing plans with each individual.
  • To proactively identify support needs and refer clients to support services sucas Empowering Independence, specialist agencies, debt advice to ensure longer term sustainment of accommodation and minimise the risk of repeat homelessness.
  • To deliver an excellent customer service to all our customers by providing person centred, expert information and advice ensuring that knowledge of relevant Housing law, policies, pathways and local options is maintained and up to date, including a good understanding of the functions and duties of other key agencies and welfare rights.

Qualifications: N/A.

Experience: 2+ years working within a similar role.

Compliance: Current DBS and 2 x references.

Travel: Clean UK driving license with the ability to commute to and from work independently.
