This is an innovative, newly established role which we are very excited to be able to offer to our patients.

If you are looking for a role where you can use the experience you have gathered to make a real and tangible difference, then this is the job for you

Your main duties will be supporting individuals who are involved in harmful incidents and the staff working with them in developing and implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs).

The aim is for the role to contribute to the reduction in the frequency and/or the intensity of harmful incidents and thus contribute to the recovery of individuals in turn promoting the well-being of staff.

You will be involved in the development of the role

The post holder will carry out assessments, develop plans and embed delivery with the ward teams working closely with service users, their carers and ward staff.

The post holder will contribute to the coaching of staff in the use of PBSPs.

To protect the health and safety of our staff/workers, patients, and those attending our sites, we encourage our workforce to get fully vaccinated against COVID.

As a Behaviour Support Practitioner your role will be varied, but there will be a focus on multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.

Clinical work is focussed on providing PBS informed assessments and developing behaviour support plans to the networks supporting people with complex challenging behaviour.

You will hold a small caseload offering assessment to understand the function of challenging behaviours and developing strategies that can be implemented to support the person and their network.

You will liaise closely with families and other professionals involved in the person's support and care.

You will be supported by the wider MDT, who can offer advise and consultation, as well as providing specialist assessments to help ensure a holistic approach can be adopted.

You will assist in PBSPs becoming embedded in practice in the unit.

We provide mental health and learning disability care for children, young people and adults across Sussex and for children and young people in Hampshire.

Working in Sussex:

  • Travel easily between coast and countryside, with a blend of picturesque villages and seaside towns
  • Embrace the city life with great access to visit Brighton and London
  • With easy access to Gatwick and Heathrow and excellent railway links across the UK there is plenty of opportunity for adventure
We'd love you to join our organisation that is rated 'good' overall and 'outstanding' for caring by the CQC.
