Childrens Occupational Therapist

Somerset

£35/hr

Somerset County Council are currently looking for an experienced children's occupational therapist in the local authority or health with experience as locum.

Ability to work independently in the community, manage own caseload: assessment in the home and educational setting, identification of need for specialist equipment and/or adaptations, formulation of a plan and review.

Areas of knowledge:

specialist equipment - seating, bathing aids.

Moving and handling - up to date moving and handling qualification, experience in assessing children's moving and handling, creation of moving and handling plan, training carers in the use of slings.

Environmental adaptations - experience in disabled facilities grant assessment.

Hybrid working:

expectation for visits in children's homes across the county, attend the office for meetings, some home working is possible.

Skills:

- (HCC) Must have creative ability, enabling skills and clinical reasoning, together with highly developed skills in complex and person centred Occupational Therapy Assessment and Intervention.
- (HCC) Significant experience in the safe moving and handling of individuals including training/demonstrating skills to others.

A good awareness of the Occupational Therapy role and organisation of partner agencies such as health, housing and the voluntary and community sector so as to advise and support customers
Good experience of providing a range of advice and support including the provision of equipment, adaptations and moving & handling intervention to promote independence and meet the needs of vulnerable service users.
Registered with the appropriate authority where applicable (e.g. SWE, HCPC)
Ability To Communicate Effectively Both Orally & In Writing To A Wide Range Of People

Qualification/Certification:

(HCC) Must have at least Diploma/BSc in Occupational Therapy or equivalent and have HCPC registration

Requirements:

Enhanced DBS
