Overview


An excellent opportunity for an experienced Buyer to join an Electronics business that specialise in a range of electronic equipment, based in Hertfordshire.

The successful Buyer will have a strong background in the purchasing and buying of various electronic components. They will also have excellent communication skills and proven experience in negotiation.


Daily Responsibilities

  • Raise purchase orders on relevant vendors based on demand produced by the MRP system and nonproduction materials when requested.
  • Negotiate and achieve costs savings, increased credit terms and improved carriage rates from all vendors where possible.
  • Ensure all purchase orders are delivered on time and in full and to monitor the quality of supply. Escalate any issues to the Procurement and Materials Manager if a resolution cannot be found.
  • Liaise with Planning and Production where necessary to discuss any potential future material constraints or supply problems.
  • Liaise with Engineering regarding any possible alternative components and complete and expedite relevant forms ready for sign off.
  • Review and check order acknowledgements against raised purchase orders and liaise with relevant vendors to discuss and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Update and maintain the MRP system with correct cost prices, lead times and vendor information.
  • Assist with the implementation of policies for the management of stock including consignment stock agreements, supplier rebates and obsolescence.
  • Assist the Procurement and Materials Manager to rationalise the existing supply base and identify potential new suppliers
  • Assist Goods Inwards with delivery discrepancies and advise on a course of action.
  • Maintain and improve vendor relationships and attend vendor meetings as required.
  • Prepare various Procurement reports and maintain KPI's where applicable.
  • Understand and comply with the Company Environmental Policy and to promote energy saving practices with the intention of reducing our carbon footprint.
  • Understand health and safety responsibilities both as an individual and for the position appointed and work within the rules given in the Company H&S Policy Document.

Requirements:


  • Strong buying / purchasing experience, ideally on a range of electronic components
  • Excellent negotiation capability
  • Strong SAP user experience
  • Very strong communication skills
