We are seeking to employ a full time Science Technician.You will work closely with Science Teachers to support the work of staff and students in the College's laboratories and classrooms where necessary.
You will join a busy and successful Science Division.Support the whole child and teach more than just the national curriculum

This role requires you:
To provide assistance and information as required in the preparation of resources for practical lessons that meet both the Health and Safety standards and College requirements
To provide general assistance in the safe storage, transit and accessibility of resources
To assist the technician team to ensure a healthy, safe and productive work environment through the routine and maintenance of, cleaning of equipment, laboratories and prep rooms
Duties include:
Prepare solutions materials, cultures for living organisms
Assemble apparatus
Obtain materials by local purchase, trialling practical activities
Carry out risk assessments for technical activities
Assisting in practical classes
Constructing and modifying apparatus
Ensure that stock levels are maintained and future requirements are identified
Ensure the availability of suitable resources
Compile orders and to liaise with suppliers and finance departments as/when required
Delivery of equipment and materials and organisms to rooms
Collection of, checking and returning resources to stores
Maintaining resources, including routine repairs
Keep up to date with Health and Safety requirements
Caring for plants and animals
Organising and storing resources
General cleaning of laboratory bench surfaces and fixed equipment
Cleaning laboratory sinks, used equipment
Disposal of/treating waste materials in line with current guidelines
Checking deliveries
Provide first aid and attend appropriate training as necessary
