Description
Do you have what it takes to change a young person's life for the better? Could you spare - 2 hours a week?

We're looking for volunteer befrienders in Edinburgh to help support vulnerable young people to achieve personal goals, increase their confidence and build their positive social networks.

Move On works to prevent homelessness and to support people affected by homelessness.

By working alongside individuals, Move On enables them to develop the skills and tools they need to reach their own long-term solutions, leading towards a positive future.

Move On works with LinkLiving to provide a befriending programme to young people in Edinburgh.

Befriending volunteers provide invaluable support to young people aged 16-25 who are making the transition from housing support to fully independent living and managing their own tenancy.

Befrienders provide emotional and social support in a variety of ways, establishing links with their local community and meeting individualised goals.

(please see role description enclosed for more information).

No particular experience or skills are necessary - Full training will be given, and once you're matched with a young person ongoing support will be offered.

Lunch is provided during training and travel expenses are covered. We ask you to commit a minimum of six months.
