Appointment of Members of the Board of the Cairngorms National Park Authority
Scottish Ministers are looking to appoint up to two new Members of the Board of the Cairngorms National Park Authority (CNPA).
Cairngorms National Park Authority
Scotland's National Parks were established by the National Parks (Scotland) Act 2000 to safeguard areas of outstanding and diverse landscapes, habitats and communities.
- to conserve and enhance the natural and cultural heritage of the area;
- to promote the sustainable use of the natural resources of the area;
- to promote understanding and enjoyment (including enjoyment in the form of recreation) of the special qualities of the area by the public; and
- to promote sustainable economic and social development of the area's communities.
The Board members of CNPA have a key role in ensuring that both the natural environment and the local communities in our Park are cared for and sustained for current and future generations to enjoy.
Skills/Experience Required:
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Applicants must demonstrate evidence of at least one of the following:
- experience of private investment in nature;
- nature friendly farming experience.
Applicants must also demonstrate evidence of all of the following:
- understanding of the role that National Parks play in Scotland
- both now and the future;
- ability to analyse and evaluate complex issues;
- ability to communicate effectively.
The selection panel are keen for you to demonstrate your passion and enthusiasm for the role of the national park now and in the future throughout the assessment process.
Remuneration and Time Commitment
Members of the Board receive £228.67 per day for a time commitment of up to three days per month.
Members are expected to attend all full Board and Committee meetings and commit to the time necessary to play a full part in the work of the National Park.
Reasonable expenses incurred will be reimbursed. The appointments are non-pensionable.Length of Term
