About the role
Audit Wales is looking to recruit a Data Analytics Officer.

Are you experienced in the world of data science and data analytics?

Do you have a passion for programming and innovation?


We are looking for a highly motivated person to be part of our energetic and resilient Data Analytics team who are using data-led approaches to transform the way we undertake our audit work.

Your proficiency in R programming/Python will shine as you immerse yourself in the iterative development of our projects.


You will have the drive and determination to work autonomously, within the team and with our customers to deliver to deadlines.


Truly understanding the needs of our colleagues as customers is key to the success of our data projects, so you will need to have excellent questioning and listening skills in order to liaise with colleagues and clients of varying levels of seniority, in1-2-1s, facilitated workshops, training sessions and presentations.


Data visualisation is key to understanding the insight within our data so we need someone skilled in telling the story within the data, and someone who can help us extend the reach of work by producing data tools for the public.

The Data Analytics team is responsible for improving all aspects of the way Audit Wales uses data. Your role will see you join a fast-paced team that has close links with all areas of the business.

Day to day, you will be involved in delivering the teamscore functions (listed below):

  • Lead research and development into innovative data techniques and tools.
  • Build impactful data tools and embed them as a new normal part of our work.
  • Drive modernisation of financial and performance audit by making it dataenabled.
  • Centrally manage key datasets to ensure standard data is used for decisionmaking.
  • Work alongside audit and corporate teams to enable them to build 'lowcode' data tools/products.
  • Screen all data products before publication as an additional quality control step.
  • Promote data literacy for all staff, to improve the data culture at Audit Wales.
