We are looking for Hygiene Operatives to join our #WeAreMcCain family.
It's the job of our Hygiene Operatives to carry out scheduled and specialist cleaning across site and production areas, including production equipment internally and externally as required.
You will also:
- Carry out scheduled and nonscheduled cleaning tasks to the fabric of the buildings and associated equipment as scheduled by Hygiene Manager/ Hygiene Team Leader
- Carry out specialised cleaning tasks, using some hazardous substances and act on instructions given by the Manager/ Charge hand in accordance with the company's safety procedures
- Follow safe use and storage of hazardous substances in line with company policy
- Use and operate cleaning equipment and cleaning tools, including UHP water jetting machine.
- Ensures that all personal protective equipment is maintained in good condition, i.e. safety clothing, eye protection, face visors, gloves, footwear, headgear etc.
- Ensure your own personal safety and that of all personal including others who may be affected by the Company's activities
- Challenge unsafe behaviours
- Adhere to the duties required for your role within the Health and Safety policy
- Promote and enforce behaviours and actions that will prevent all contamination threats to products whether physical, microbial or chemical
- Escalate immediately reporting on the status of any noncompliance in the system or process to management for counter measure or immediate remedy
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for someone with experience of working within food manufacturing in a similar role, and knowledge of the Health and Safety requirements within FMCG.
You'll be a confident and assertive communicator at all levels, with excellent time management, prioritisation, and organisational skills with the ability to multi-task.
It will also be desirable to have knowledge of...- Lean manufacturing principles
- Food Hygiene
- Previous experience in a hygiene role
- Previous experience working across production areas
- Confined space trained (desirable)
- COSHH level 2 (desirable but not essential)
- McCain "Working at height " trained
- Understanding of AIB and GMP standards and audits
You must also have
- A keen eye for continuous improvement and who will strive to find areas to enhance our line operations within our plant.
- The ability to work at pace, without jeopardising quality and standards.
- A team player who can play towards creating our winning culture.
- A passion for quality with an eye for detail.

WHERE YOU'LL WORK?
You'll be based at our Whittlesey plant in Peterborough.
If you've spotted our three wind turbines, then you'll know where we are With about 350 employees on site, we're one of our largest plants across the GB business.
Our Whittlesey plant is where we make our famous French Fries as well as our chilled products, such as our Shake Shake Fries.
