West Berkshire**My client is looking to take on a permanent Purchasing & Planning Assistant for their team near the Reading area who will be responsible for assisting with all internal and external supply channels to ensure that production is on schedule and within budget.

Automotive - Manufacturing - Engineering - Paintworks - Refinishing - Purchasing - Communication & Negotiation - Cost Effective Strategies - Supply Chain - Buying

The Purchasing Assistant will ideally have the following attributes:

Previous experience in a similar Planning & Purchasing role in an engineering manufacturing environment
Have good attention to detail and the initiative to follow processes
Accuracy and speed when working with spreadsheets and software
Can work well under pressure to achieve deadlines
Excellent communication skills to be able to work with a variety of people at varying levels
Being adaptable to changing business needs and priorities
Computer literate with a good level of experience working with MS Excel and Word
Strong analytical skills

The Purchasing Assistant role will involve:

Sourcing and building long lasting supplier relationships with regular contact
Negotiation of supplier quotes and securing best possible prices
Ensuring the timely ordering and receipt of parts required for production and notifying relevant people of any delays
Liaising effectively with production and engineering teams to prioritise and plan the work lists for production schedule ensuring booking in of manufactured parts
Ensuring accurate record keeping of batch and part numbers on internal systems
Working alongside the accounts department to align end of month processes
