We are the Government's National College for Digital Skills, a high performing technical college with the mission of educating and empowering the next generation of diverse digital talent.

As evidenced by our two new city centre campuses in London (Victoria) and Manchester (Ancoats), our recent King's Award for promoting social mobility and Good (with Outstanding features) Ofsted rating, we are a College that is going places As the only specialist advanced technology FE College in England, we work with a wide range of industry partners from King Games to Bank of America and a host of tech start-ups and SMEs to help them build new, diverse entry-level tech talent pipelines.


Our 'Evolving to Ada 2.0' strategy through to December 2025 focuses on doubling our learner volumes to 1000 enrolled while continuing to drive up diversity and ensure we maintain the quality of our applicants and the education and support they receive.

We are building an impact function as a key foundation to help us get there and this role would lead it.

What's your mission?
This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Head of Impact to build Ada's impact management function, leading Ada's emerging impact strategy in partnership with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), co-designing a new impact management framework, and fostering an impact culture across our organisation


This will include:

  • Work with the Director of Performance and Operations and other stakeholders (e.g. Impetus Foundation) to articulate Ada's approach to managing our impact over the next three years
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including the Board of Trustees, to implement the agreed impact management approach and embed impact practices across all levels of the organisation
  • Iteratively review, update and evolve our approach, bringing staff along on the journey to ensure Ada has an impactfocused culture as well as the ability to rigorously evidence our impact internally and externally
  • Represent Ada to a wide range of stakeholders, from Government to private sector donors, in a variety of different environments from seminars and conferences to private dinners and lunch'n'learns at fastgrowing tech companies.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

Impact leadership

  • Set up the impact function, including detailing our impact strategy and plan, developing Ada's impact framework and engaging our team. This is aiming to build accountability to our mission.
  • Provide the necessary insights and support for the Board, CEO and Leadership Team to make strategic decisions based on reliable quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Play a leading role in driving the changes required to improve learner diversity and outcomes (including quality assurance; compliance; systems & processes, and evaluation).
  • Steward Ada's commitment to achieving outcomes for our young people by engaging the whole staff team with the impact agenda.

Systems, processes and reporting

  • Create data systems building on what we already have that will support the evaluation, research, and performance management needs of the organisation
  • Develop and manage organisationwide impact reporting. You will be responsible for the integrity, quality, relevance and timeliness of reporting to staff and other stakeholders about Ada's impact, from the diversity of our learners, to the impact of our courses, all the way through to longterm job outcomes
  • Work with the External Relations team to (1) define and develop our framework for impact reporting to funders and support funding bids and (2) inform the organisation's broader impact narrative for marketing purposes
  • Train and support staff in the effective use of impact measurement tools.

Quality assurance and evaluation

  • Use outcomes data to improve our understanding about how effective certain elements of our programmes are for different groups of young people
  • In due course, initiate and run 'deep dive' evaluations of our programmes, exploring certain elements of our programmes in more depth, and shaping the design of the programmes with input from our staff.
