This is an exciting opportunity to join the busy, friendly Communications and Marketing team at Social Security Scotland, an Executive Agency of the Scottish Government.

This role is part of the Corporate Communications Team.

Hybrid Working
We embrace a hybrid working style where all colleagues will spend time in either our Glasgow or Dundee offices. We expect people to spend a minimum of two days per week in their assigned location. Your base location will be Dundee or Glasgow.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage and issue daily media digest, communication updates for operational colleagues and issue communications updates to colleagues and senior stakeholders on the Executive Advisory Board.
  • Source, write, edit and manage highquality website content including timely publication of stats, articles and associated content.
  • Coordination of website update and migration to new platform.
  • Write website content, review existing content on a regular basis.
  • Act as editor and write highquality content for a range of Social Security Scotland channels including a regular Stakeholder Newsletter.
  • Use media monitoring to drive insight and evaluation reports.
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders and partners to deliver creative ways of communicating our key messages to our target audiences to help promote benefit takeup.
  • Share key content which promotes our brand values of dignity, fairness and respect.
  • Liaise with media to generate interest in media announcements and to respond to reactive enquiries.
  • Contribute to quarterly communications plans and activity grid.
  • Contribute to social media content.
  • Deliver highquality communications outputs across a range of channels.

No specific qualifications are required for this post.


How to apply

  • Experience of working in communications, with good skills in using a range of communications channels, including digital, to tailor content for target audiences.
  • Professional writing and editing skills with a keen news sense. The ability to prioritise under pressure and to deliver copy in plain English to tight deadlines.
  • Good communications skills combined with the confidence to manage and influence people at all levels to achieve business objectives.
