Hours:
Monday - Friday, 7.30am am and 3.00pm - 5.30pm, 18.75 hours per week, 38 weeks per year

Core Purpose:


To work as part of a team in providing before and after school care for children aged 4 to 11 and to be responsible for the day-to-day organisation and operation of the Before and After School Club.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Ensure registration details are completed for each session and that children are collected from and delivered to classrooms safely.
  • Ensure a safe, creative, and stimulating environment is created in which children can develop their skills through planned programme of appropriate activities.
  • To recognise the individual needs of children and work with them in group or onetoone activities, encouraging their personal and social development.
  • To utilise skills and knowledge to encourage children to participate in and gain confidence and experience through various activities.
  • To communicate in a friendly, supportive way to parents, reporting on progress or worries concerning their child.
  • Provide general care and welfare for the children, including:
  • Physical care and attention for personal needs.
  • Act as carer for sick children until appropriate qualified medical assistance is available or until a parent/guardian collects the sick child.
  • Provide comfort and support to children in distress.
  • Provide refreshments as necessary.
  • Keep toys and equipment in a clean condition and in good repair.
  • Prepare and clear away equipment and material at the beginning and end of each session ensuring the area is left in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Carrying out day to day administration, record keeping, and any other documentation required.
  • To report back to the principal as required with information relating to staff, children, activities, quality of provision and anything else deemed necessary.
  • Ordering and purchasing material and equipment.
  • Day to day financial administration preparing invoices, collecting fees, updating records, and ensuring that any payment collected is accounted for and receipted.
  • Be aware of and act in accordance with current legislation, good practice, club policies and procedures.
  • To work flexibly alongside other staff, parents, and children to ensure the smooth running of the club.
  • Participate in the ongoing cycle of support and appraisal for your own professional development.
  • Attend training to keep up to date with best practice and support continuous professional development.
  • Work in all areas of the club and outdoors and take responsibility for the supervision and welfare of the children.
  • Be involved in the setting up and preparation of food and supervise/support children during mealtimes.
  • Establish excellent relationship with each child and their family.
  • Liaise closely with other members of the team to exchange information about children.
  • Maintain confidentiality in relation to children information and report issues as well as significant matters about children's play and behaviour to a senior member of staff immediately.
  • Ensure Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to and recorded as necessary.
