The Role:

*All our staff are trained to Level 5 via our Foundation Degree in Therapeutic work with children and young people, accredited by the University of the West of England.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:


  • The care and therapeutic treatment of up to 8 children is of a high and consistent standard.
  • Outstanding quality assurance, monitoring and compliance.
  • The leadership and development of their staff team.
  • Ensure that all records and systems are compliant with school and organisational policy and all relevant regulation, statute, etc.
  • Provide management oversight of all aspects of the tasks of the household.
  • Be responsible for developing and maintaining the reflective culture, therapeutic approach, routines, practice and environment of the household so that these meet the children's needs, are in keeping with the model of practice & school policy and are ofa high standard.
  • Work in collaboration with the School Leadership Team, Education Management Team and Therapies and Networks Team.
  • Promote effective communication within the team and across teams.
  • Actively work towards establishing positive team morale.

Essential Skills:


  • At least 2 years' experience managing a team in a child care setting.
  • Direct work with children in challenging behaviours.
  • Care and treatment planning.
  • Can lead and manage a team that has to change and adapt according to the needs of the children, community and organisation.
  • Can work on own initiative and to deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a team and empower others within that team.
  • Resilience under emotional and work pressures.
  • Understanding of (& commitment to) Safeguarding policy, principles and practices.
  • Show a commitment to demonstrating and promoting inclusivity, equality, diversity within all aspects of role.
  • Will treat all people fairly and without prejudice or discrimination.

Desirable Skills:


  • Providing training and assessing work.
  • Working with complex families and networks.
  • Ability to demonstrate warmth and empathy in balance with boundaries and appropriate distance in relationships.
