University Hospital Southampton

1 Full time position available hours, fully flexi, Monday-Sunday - 5 days a week

1 Part time position available hours, Monday-Saturday - 3 days a week.

Salary - £22, £24,336.00 depending on experience and pro-rate for the part time position, plus Serco benefits.


Main Purpose:


To co-ordinate an efficient catering team to maintain a clean, safe working environment adhering to health and safety working practises and food hygiene regulations and to supervise and assist in the delivery of all catering services to patients within the hospital.

This job is based in the main kitchen.


Main Accountabilities:

Compliance with HACCP requirements at all times
Ensure service critical tasks are completed on time daily
Supervision, allocation, direction and monitoring of BOH pick and packer
Stock Control - Assist in arranging duty rotas, annual leave and sickness cover
Assist in the development of departmental procedures and protocols.
Maintain work schedules
Comply with departmental policies and procedures to provide an effective and efficient service.
Report faults and hazards
Ensure goods are stored correctly and stock is used on a rotational basis.
Ensure strict hygiene standards are maintained in line with Food Hygiene Regulations
Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Regulations
Participate in recruitment, training, absent management and personal development of Catering Assistants
Participate in implementation of Serco Policies and Procedures
Occasionally required to conduct investigatory interviews and/or disciplinary hearings.


What you will need for the role:
Supervising other staff, monitoring work standards and team working essential.
Institute of Leadership and Management, level 2 (ILM) desirable
Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate - Good communication skills including a good telephone manner
Excellent customer care skills
Knowledge of working with chemicals for cleaning / COSSH awareness
Previous large scale catering experience - HACCP
