Job Title:
SEN Teaching Assistant


Location:
Barnet, North London


Hours: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday


Salary:
£400-£475 per week, weekly pay through PAYE


As a SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant at a primary school in Islington, you will provide invaluable support to students with special educational needs or disabilities, ensuring they have equal access to education and opportunities for success.


Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting Individual Students: Working closely with students who have SEN or disabilities, providing one-to-one support tailored to their specific needs and learning styles.

Assisting in Classroom Activities: Collaborating with classroom teachers to adapt and modify lessons and activities to meet the needs of SEN students, ensuring they are fully included in classroom learning.

Implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs): Supporting the implementation of individual education plans, including strategies and interventions outlined by the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) or educational psychologist.

Providing Personal Care: Assisting students with personal care needs, including toileting, feeding, and mobility, as required and in accordance with school policies and procedures.

Monitoring Progress: Tracking the progress of SEN students, recording observations and achievements, and providing feedback to teachers and SENCO to inform ongoing support and intervention strategies.

Facilitating Inclusion: Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported in reaching their full potential.

Collaborating with Professionals: Working closely with other professionals involved in supporting SEN students, such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and educational psychologists.


Requirements:


  • Experience working in a school, nursery, or other childcare setting, preferably with SEN students.
  • Knowledge of SEN strategies, interventions, and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational and emotional development of SEN students.
