Responsible to:
Medical and Welfare Coordinator

We are seeking a knowledgeable, motivated and well organised Senior Welfare Assistant.

We believe in a world where everyone can flourish and this is a key role where you will be challenged to support the medical needs and welfare of the learners to really make a difference.

This is an exciting role where you will aid in promoting learner independence, self-esteem and social inclusion.

The post holder will have support from the Head of Therapeutic Services and the Welfare & Medical Coordinator where needed.

The Senior Welfare Assistant will be responsible for assisting pupils with personal care, toileting and feeding and promote progress towards acquiring self-help skills.

Senior Welfare Assistants work with other healthcare professionals, school teams, parents and carers to ensure the wellbeing of pupils during all school activities.

Reporting to the Medical and Welfare Coordinator and working closely with your line manager, all staff and teams in line with the job role, we're looking for someone who will join us in bringing our vision, mission and values to life and relish the fact that every day is different.

With a proven track record in a similar role, you'll be excellent at supporting class teams to ensure the best possible learning and welfare outcomes for all pupils.

The postholder will be responsible for the supervision of welfare assistants across campuses and as such will need to develop strong relationships, be able to prioritise workload and get things done.

We need someone who has a hands-on attitude to supporting our pupils.

It's a demanding position where different challenges will face you, so we need someone who relishes a new challenge and is looking to develop personally and professionally.

As a community of 220 employees serving nearly 450 learners aged 4-25 with special educational needs and disabilities across 4 campuses and several sites, we're seeking someone who is culturally aligned, who shares our values and is happy to contribute to the wider life of our happy and successful school.

West Lea is all about innovation, and as such, we are constantly evolving.

The only true way to see what we can offer is by coming to see us and discovering why we believe you should make 'our' school, 'your' school.

We want to provide you with all the information you need to decide whether the role and our school setting are right for you.

We welcome questions and would love to show you around.
