We are seeking a
Process Operative for our client in
Newtownabbey.

The Process Operative will operate equipment as required and carry out all other duties as detailed by supervisors and management, including keeping the workplace clean and tidy and delivering the quality and quantity of product required.

Pay Rate:


Day Shift starting rate:
£10.60 Per Hour

Mid Shift starting rate:
£10.87 Per Hour

Night Shift starting rate:
£11.40 Per Hour


Working Hours:
Shifts rotate every 2 weeks.


Day shift: 7am

  • 3.30pm

Mid shift: 3pm pm


Night shift: 11pm am


Job Duties:

Process operatives work on any part of the galvanising production line that is required

Wiring products to the crane frames: The operator will be wiring and lifting various sizes of parts which can range from small brackets to longer posts that will be hooked onto the spreaders as well as wiring many different types of work on the floor. The spreaders would be majority manual labour and wiring on the floor can regularly involve manual lifting in order for the operators to wire the products properly.

Chemical Dipping: The operator will have to lift the jigs and sometimes manually lift work to jig it properly. When jigging the operator will also have to spread the weight of the work that has been wired evenly across the jig, so they may also be required to lift work and rearrange the wires. On occasions the acid operator may also have to wire work. The operator then uses the crane to transfer jobs into the cleaning chemicals.

Dryer: Involves using the crane to lift and check work is ready from the chemical to process down the production line to rinse bath, to flux bath and then to the dryer. On occasions the dryer operator may have to drill if a venting hole is required.

Dipping: The dipping involves lifting material using the crane from the dryer, checking the venting holes are sufficient and dipping the work into the zinc bath. this is a higher skilled position that only significantly trained operatives would get access to. The operator must watch carefully when dipping to make sure no product is floating or has gotten caught at the side of the bath. The operator must then use the paddles at the bath to sweep any ash at the surface and remove any sharp edges from the product. On occasions the dipper may have to drill if a venting hole is required.

Weighbridge:The weighbridge operator is responsible for cutting the wires used to hang the product on the production line, quality checking and packaging it in the relevant manner e.g. Cages, Pallets, Stillages. Weighbridge operators are responsible for weighing the products and booking the products out on the system before using the forklift to transport the work from the weighbridge to the yard, ready for collection/despatch to the customer.

  • Producing the quantity and quality of output required on a daily basis.
  • Maintaining the workplace, equipment and machinery in satisfactory working condition at all times.
  • Achieving an excellent record in terms of attendance and timeliness as per details stated in the terms and conditions of employment.
  • Maintaining safety of workplace by lowering incidence of safety related accidents.
  • Working to company processes and procedures that are in keeping with the company quality system, and for making suggestions to improve processes, quality, cut waste, speed through put or in some other way contribute to overall manufacturing improvements and performance.
  • Assisting and covering for other production personnel to cope with workloads and absenteeism.
  • Carrying out any reasonable request by Management, Supervisors or Team Leaders.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the position held.
