An exciting opportunity has arisen for a secondment to Diabetes Research department working on the Oceanic Foot research study.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the team.

This opportunity would be suitable to someone with both diabetes knowledge and experience patients with diabetic foot problems.


The post holder will act as a self-management facilitator and will work as part of an MDT approach, to complete health profile with patient and set individualised targets.


They will be a prescriber able to assess BP and titrate or make recommendations to initiate BP medications; assess cardiovascular risk and titrate or make recommendations to initiate statin therapy; assess HbA1c and/or time in range & titrate or initiate oral glucose lowering therapies, GLP-1 Receptor Agonists or insulin.

GRaDE Care Group is comprised of 3 clinical directorates:

  • Diabetes and Endocrinology
  • Gastroenterology and Hepatology
  • Respiratory Medicine


All three directorates operate on the Northern and Central campus' although the acute admitting base for all of the specialties is at the Northern General Hospital.

The Care Group has 11 acute base wards at the Northern General Hospital and one acute and one elective base ward at the Central Campus.

Outpatient services operate on both campus' and are supported by the Patient Booking Hub at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.


This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of 2 years due to the post being externally funded.

The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts taking into consideration the ongoing source of the external funding and the requirement for the post to be maintained.
